New Windsor School Leaders by Choice (LBC) Club Scholars Develop and Host National Bullying Prevention Month Assembly.
Leaders by Choice (LBC) is a club at New Windsor School advised by the School Counselor, La'Shawn Martinez, that emphasizes how to be a leader within the class, school, and community. It is a chance to expand the skills of young leaders, as it enhances and helps scholars to find the leader within themselves. Leaders by Choice Club is open to ALL interested scholars who are in fourth and fifth grade, even if they are not sure how to be a leader yet. To maintain quality of instruction, scholars have to complete an application in order to be considered for Leaders by Choice Club.
Most scholars indicated on their application that they wanted to do something about preventing and stopping bullying. The 5th Grade members of LBC met with Ms. Martinez to begin planning and implementing a "Not in Our School Campaign". The scholars created the presentation, format of the assembly, and fliers for our families. In collaboration with the New Windsor Police, the Leaders by Choice Club presented a bullying prevention assembly for Grades K-1, 2-3, and 3-5.
