Immunization Requirements Update
As outlined in the memo below, “Governor Cuomo signed legislation removing non-medical exemptions from school vaccination requirements for children." As a result, all school-aged children are required to have up-to-date immunizations according to the schedule established by New York State Department of Health. If you intend to enroll your child in one of the district’s summer school programs and your child has previously been exempt from vaccinations for non-medical reasons, you must provide proof prior to the start of the summer school program. As indicated in the memo you must provide, “proof of the first age-appropriate dose in each immunization series by June 28, 2019." If proof is not provided by the first day of summer school, your child will be excluded.
School nurses in NECSD will be contacting you in the event your child has been previously exempt to discuss with you the new requirements. For more information please refer to the New York State Department of Health website at https://www.health.ny.gov/
