NFA North Empire State After School Program Students Unveil New Garden
Students from the Empire State After School program at Newburgh Free Academy North Campus created a garden during their time together. Students and teachers carried several tons of dirt to fill the beds that they made. Once the foundation was set, the flowers and vegetables were planted. The students held a ribbon cutting and invited their classmates to experience their creation. The garden will be dedicated to Mrs. Sonya Dixon, a long-time employee of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District who dedicated her life to enriching programs for our scholars.
Ms. Christine Hutchinson led the students for this program. Ms. Hutchinson and Mr. Anthony Grice, coordinator for the Empire State After School Program gave a brief speech about the garden and the hard work of the students.
