Newburgh Free Academy North Campus Hosted Annual Senior Talks
Newburgh Free Academy North Campus hosted their annual Senior Talk event at Mount Saint Mary College earlier this spring. A Night of Senior Talks features ten student speakers who were nominated by their peers to give their talks to a larger audience.
Senior Talks are a rite of passage for students who attend Newburgh Free Academy, North Campus. Each senior is required to prepare a talk that explains or teaches their peers about a topic of their choice. Senior English teacher, Ms. Ann Hovey coordinated the annual event and host talks in their classrooms that lead up to the culminating events.
Opening remarks and introductions were given from: Dr. David Gallagher, Associate Professor of Education, Mount Saint Mary College, Mr. Matteo Doddo, Co-Principal, Newburgh Free Academy, North Campus and teachers Ms. Ann Hovey, Ms. Gina Dellatte, and Ms. Jenna Park. There was a special video made by Mr. Matthew Freedman. Mr. Freedman is a past advisor for the Senior Talks series, but is currently in Finland as part of the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching grant.
