Kindergarten Registration & District Wide Open Houses
Residency Requirement
Only those students who are legal residents of the Newburgh District and who are of legal age are entitled to attend Newburgh Schools. A child’s residence is determined by the residence of the child’s parents or legal custodial person.
Non-Resident families who wish to enroll their children in the Newburgh School District must first apply in writing and are considered based on a number of established criteria. All Non-Resident students must pay tuition.
Questions concerning residency eligibility should be brought to the attention of the Office of Registration located at 124 Grand Street or call (845) 534-KIDS.

Location
Kindergarten registration will take place March 1- March 22, 2017 from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the BOE/Library Complex at 124 Grand Street, Newburgh, NY .
Requirements
1. Birth certificate.2. Immunizations/shot record (up to date).
3. Copy of last physical exam.
4. Proof of residency, one of the following:
utility bill (gas, oil, electric, telephone, or cable)
rental agreement, lease agreement, rent receipt, mortgage statement, paystub,
correspondence from government agency (DSS, Social Security, Child Support)
5. Government issued Picture I.D. of parent/guardian.
6. Custody, Guardianship or Foster Care documentation, if necessary.
Know Before Registration
All students must reside within the boundaries of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District in order to be eligible for admission. A child must be five years old on or before December 1, 2017 to be eligible for kindergarten. If a child is currently attending one of the NECSD Universal Pre-K Program In-District Sites or one of the NECSD Pre-K Program Provider Sites there is no need to register; a one page choice application will be sent home with the child. All other children who are not currently enrolled in one of our programs must register at the BOE/Library Complex. Parents are requested to download the Registration Application (or in spanish) from the district website, fill it out completely and return it along with the required documents. The application is available in both English and Spanish.
Dual Language Program
This school year the Dual Language Program will again be offered at the following schools: Fostertown Elementary School, Vails Gate STEAM Academy, & Temple Hill Academy. Parents of Kindergarten students who are interested in the Dual Language Program are encouraged to visit these schools during their Open Houses for more detailed information. All applications for the Dual Language Program must be submitted to the Registration Office at 124 Grand Street, Newburgh, NY 12550 no later than Friday, March 3rd, 2017.
