Transition Expo: What's Next at NFA - April 10
The Transition Expo will take place on Wednesday April, 10, 2019 from 6:00pm until 8:30pm at NFA Main Campus. This free event will include workshops to help students and families, with special needs, as they move past high school. It is a free event and light refreshments will be served. The workshops are listed below, then click on Register Now to save your place and select the workshop you're interested in.
WORKSHOPS
#1 WAIVER SERVICES THROUGH OPWDD
Presented by Taconic Innovations
Participants will learn about waiver services available such as in-home respite, community habilitation, day programs, ISS housing & Transportation services.

#2 DISCLOSING MY DISABILITY TO MY EMPLOYER
Presented by SUNY Orange BRIDGES Program
Participants will learn how to self-advocate on the job.

#3 GRADUATION PATHWAYS IN NYS

Participants will learn about all the NYS approved High School Graduation Pathways.

Participants will gain mental health awareness in order to eliminate the stigma & discrimination attached to mental health conditions, early intervention & prevention.

Presented by Mental Health Association in Orange County, Inc.
Participants will learn the definition and process to obtain Article 17A Guardianship for individuals with developmental disabilities through the Orange County Surrogate’s Court.

#9 HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
Presented by Planned Parenthood of the Mid-Hudson Valley
Participants will learn through group activities and discussion about what a healthy relationship is and should look like. Topics include consent, boundaries and self-esteem.
