NFA Main Hosts Annual Empty Bowls Event
It’s that time of year again for our annual tradition at NFA to help the many hungry people in our area, and we need you to make it a success. For those of you who are new to the NFA community, Empty Bowls is a national network of volunteer efforts to provide hunger relief. All proceeds go to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, the main food supplier to local food pantries and soup kitchens.
Joshua Lipira and his students will be making one-of-a-kind ceramic bowls. Members of the Empty Bowls Committee will be getting the supplies ready; their senior students will be setting up, serving, and clearing. The gracious ladies of the cafeteria will be making several delicious soups, and Jim Morrison and his students will be baking up some trays of their tempting brownies. All other parts of the meal and door prizes are donated by area businesses, and this year we will again be raffling some beautiful baskets made by our own faculty and staff.
On Thursday, April 11 th, from 5:00 to 7:00 in the North Cafeteria, we will serve a simple meal of soup, bread, salad, and fruit while being serenaded. The donation for each meal is $18 – but you keep the bowl to remind you all year that there are plenty among us who face empty bowls each day.
We will have a limited number of bowls available so tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. If you are unable to attend, we will gratefully accept your donation to help fill the many empty bowls in our community. Note that tickets do sell out for the event.
