A note from the Director, Mrs. Fay Gerbes Pacht: The Children’s Hour is a play that has been produced on stages and studied in ELA classes since its creation in 1934. It is based on a true story which took place in 1810 in Scotland. It is a story about lies and false accusations and how they destroy the character’s careers, relationships, and lives. In reading this play again after several years, I was struck by how relevant the playwright’s messages were today, and it brought to mind lessons by Don Miguel Ruiz which I try to live by and teach through example: Be impeccable with your word, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions, and always do your best. We hope you take these lessons away with you and that this play reminds you that your words and actions can have dire consequences for others.
Special thanks to

with their time, support, and love.
