Temple Hill Academy welcomed recently drafted Cleveland Indians pitcher Lenny Torres for The Speaker Series
Temple Hill Academy welcomed recently drafted Cleveland Indians pitcher Lenny Torres, along with the owner of Extra Innings from Wappingers Falls, Angel Lugo. This presentation was part of The Speaker Series, the collaborative effort of Mrs. Maria VannReyes (World Language Department) and Ms. Juana Rivera (Department of Guidance and Counseling) at Temple Hill. The Speaker Series initiative was designed to engage and inspire Temple Hill Scholars through an interactive guest speaker experience that emphasize the importance of career readiness and cultural awareness.
Mr. Torres and Mr. Lugo spoke about the meaning of GRIT and how the road to success is paved with hard work, perseverance, and commitment. Additionally, the presenters spoke about the benefits of speaking a second language.
Lenny Torres is a graduate of Beacon High School was the 41st pick in the 1st round of the 2018 MLB Draft. Angel Lugo has been working with local communities to revive baseball in the inner city and help support the local youth stay off the streets and focused on their studies.
