Two NFA Students to Represent the District at NYSSMA
Supriya Makam and Laura Wurster will represent Newburgh Free Academy at the New York State School Music Association All State Festival this Thursday through Sunday where they will rehearse with world renowned conductors and then perform at the fabled Eastman Theatre in Rochester.
Supriya will be performing with the All State Women's Chorus and Laura will be performing with the All State Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
They were chosen via competitive audition from several thousand candidates all over the state and are 2 of only 23 students from Orange County to be accepted. Their acceptance is a credit to their work ethic and skills. Having two students accepted in one year is a mark of prestige for the school, district, and educators who support the academic and artistic endeavors of these young ladies, and provides increased standing and credibility for our school and district in the wider realm of education across the state.
