NECSD Receives 2,000 Masks from Rotary’s Million Mask Challenge
Dr. Roberto Padilla, Superintendent of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District accepted 2,000 masks from the Rotary’s Million Mask Challenge. Masks will be distributed by NECSD’s My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Fellows on Monday, January 18, 2021 beginning at 12pm at the Newburgh Free Library via a drive-through set up. Following that portion of the event, MBK scholars will visit area senior homes to drop off masks and hand sanitizers. The overall goal is to communicate the continued need to remain vigilant and to help stop the spread of COVID 19. The distribution event is in conjunction with the Presidential Inauguration Committee on the National Day of Service on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!
On January 14th, the Rotary Million Mask Challenge Tour rolled into Renegades Stadium, Fishkill New York. Ted Rossi, a 20-year member of the Rotary Club of East Hampton Connecticut has donated PPE masks to help stem the spread of COVID. The Rotary Clubs through the region distribute PPE masks to first responders, essential workers, and those in need.
The Rotary Million Mask Challenge will deliver upwards of 2MM PPEs, delivering the necessary face coverings to first responders, essential workers, and needy community organizations throughout the original New England region, and expansion to New York's Hudson Valley, Westchester, Manhattan, Staten Island, and Long Island areas.
Eleven Rotary Districts and thousands of Rotarians throughout seven States (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York) will be greeted by a 26-foot Rotary Million Mask Challenge Tour wrapped truck from January 11th - 15th to receive PPE face masks for subsequent delivery to those in need.
In total, the Rotary’s Million Mask challenge has distributed 175,000 masks that include surgical masks, children’s masks, and KN95 masks.
