South Middle School Scholars Learn About and Celebrate Juneteenth
At SMS, Scholars celebrated Juneteenth by painting the Juneteenth Flag and decorating the Cafeteria with other Pride Flags and Student Portraits of African American Historical Figures, as well as quotes by these great leaders. The meanings of the parts of the Juneteenth Flag were explained and quotes were read by Scholars over the announcements. A video was posted for homerooms in the digital announcements explaining the history of the Holiday to scholars. Teachers went from classroom to classroom to talk to scholars about the holiday and teach them even more about how to celebrate and appreciate it's history. Just another reason why we have SOUTH PRIDE!
