Social Media Post - Concerning Temple Hill Academy
Dear Temple Hill Academy Parents, Faculty and Staff,
The district is aware of a post on social media that showed a firearm and the caption "Temple is next". The district takes all threats to our students, schools, faculty and staff seriously. We immediately notified the following agencies: Town of New WIndsor Police Department, City of Newburgh Police Department, Orange County Sheriff's Office, and the New York State Police. The district takes any threat to our district, students, faculty and staff seriously and will work with law enforcement to enforce the most appropriate consequences.
At this time there will be additional presence of law enforcement from the New Windsor Police Department. A Sheriff’s Deputy, previously assigned to the school, will work with the faculty and staff to monitor the situation throughout the day. At this time, school will open at regular time.
We are extremely thankful to our students and families who continue to alert our building leaders to concerns they have seen, allowing us to react quickly. The identity of students who share their concerns with building principals will remain confidential.
If a student has questions or concerns, they should speak with a building principal or assistant principal, school counselor, social worker, school psychologist, or other adult that they trust.
Sincerely,
Mr. Ed Forgit
Interim Superintendent of Schools
